Position Overview
The BIM Manager works to support preparation of design and construction drawings for architectural projects, applying knowledge of design, building materials and assemblies. The BIM Manager creates and implements the BIM modelling standards for each project. The role is characterized by five major characteristics
- Data/drawing/task management
- Standards and family creation and updates
- Initial project setup, maintenance and problem solving
- Coordination and clash detection of architectural and consultant model
- Mentoring/teaching/keeping staff skills up to date in BIM
Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible for developing and implementing BIM workflow and communicating the benefits of BIM within and outside the company
- Oversee BIM software firm-wide, including installing, configuring, maintaining, and supporting all BIM installations as well as analyzing and solving BIM user issues
- Provide training, support and leadership. Conduct continuing education on BIM processes and its new technologies for team members.
- Supports each project team member by managing and creating content library files and templates, creating and enforcing standard implementation and evaluating project models. Keep template library and other databases up to date.
- Manage the implementation of supporting software for BIM and Evaluate new BIM related software and technologies
- Stay informed on best practices for use of Revit Architecture, AutoCAD, BIM and task management software
- Maintains exceptional work ethic as well as upholds company values and demands the highest standard of conduct from self and others
- Uses time productively, maximizes efficiency, and meets work goals
- Chairs the company’s BIM committee
- Reports on the company’s current and projected state regarding BIM implementation
- Analyzes and reports on architectural and consultant plans and drawings, highlighting any possible risks or problems and making amendments using Revit and other BIM software.
- Performing clash detection of architectural and consultant models, finding ways to remove errors and improve performance of the development
- Drawing Revit models from 2d models of consultants
- Assign work to team members, evaluate work and mentor as necessary
- Other duties as required
Requirements:
- Degree in Architecture
- Member of OAA (Preferred but not required)
- 5-8 years Proficiency in Revit and/or Navisworks and previous hold a BIM manager position or working towards
- 5 years of experience in management role is preferred
- Considerable knowledge of modern building construction methods and materials and of the preparation of specifications.
- Considerable knowledge of the terminology, methods, practices, and techniques of architectural drafting.
- Some knowledge of the principles and methods of surveying and inspecting sites and buildings, preparatory to planning and designing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the team
- Skill in designing alterations to buildings and structures and in preparing accurate drawings and specifications.
- Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Autodesk Dynamo with efficient use of ACC platform
